Berg Advisory Services was founded by Johnny van den Berg, driven by a deep passion for the digital awakening reshaping the global mining landscape. As communities, governments, and industries push for greater transparency, improved custodianship of mineral resources, and sustainable practices, the mining sector is undergoing rapid transformation.
With 44 years of mining experience and a heritage born in the shadow of a headgear, Johnny represents the third generation of miners in his family. He has long been recognised as a thought leader in Digital Transformation, Mineral Resource Management, and innovative mining methodologies.
His ongoing involvement in a cutting-edge project funded by the European Union, led by the Department of AI and Robotics at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden, highlights his position at the forefront of mining innovation. Serving as the project’s mining advisor, Johnny plays a pivotal role in advancing robotic mining technologies that aim to remove people from dangerous environments and redefine mining safety.
